Sonamarg, meaning 'Meadow of Gold', sits at an altitude of 2,800m and is one of Kashmir's most spectacular destinations. Located at the gateway to Ladakh, it's surrounded by majestic glaciers including Thajiwas Glacier, alpine meadows carpeted with flowers, and the roaring Sindh River. The town serves as a base for trekking to high-altitude lakes and crossing the famous Zoji La Pass.
